Safety/handling Araldite
and
Arathane Encapsulating Systems

It is important that the Material Safety Data Sheets (MSDS) for each encapsulating
product be read and understood before using the products.

Ciba Speciality Chemcials' encapsulating materials are chemicals that must be
handled properly. The following are precautions to be taken when using encapsulating systems and other chemical substances to minimize personal exposure.
.

Protective clothing

Gloves and safety glasses must be worn and coveralls are recommended. Discard contaminated clothes and gloves immediately after use.

Contaminated skin

Remove material that has splashed on skin with absorbent paper, then wash with warm water and an alkali-free soap. Never use solvents to cleanse skin because they can destroy natural skin protection.

Skin protection

Before starting work, apply barrier cream to all exposed skin areas. After work, wash hands thoroughly and apply barrier or moisturizing cream.

Spills
Wipe up small spills immediately with disposable towels; soak up large spills with sawdust

Ventilation
Renew air three to five times per hour in the work-shop and install exhaust fans near workbench areas.

Precaution for specific materials

The precautions listed above should be tailored to the particular operation to be performed and to the specific material to be used, in accordance with the Material Safety Data Sheets.
